두두는 식물을 기르고 관찰하여, 그것을 작가의 세계관에 옮겨 드로잉을 통해 삶을 대하는 태도를 묘사한다. 이번 전시에서 작업의 원료를 드러냄으로 작업과 일상 오브제 간의 유기적인 관계를 보여준다.
I.Doo Kim observes plants and converts it into his drawings which shows his views of life/philosophy. In this exhibition, he displays the raw material used in his practice to point out their relationship.
작업 속에서 식물을 가꾸며 돌보는 사람들을 나는 폴리(Pollii)라고 부른다. 폴리는 폴리네이터(Pollinator)에서 유래한다. 폴리 네이터는 벌과 같은 곤충이나 바람 등의 수분 매개자로, 식물의 번식을 돕는다. 식물은 운송 수단을 통해 어디로든 갈 수 있게 되었고 사람과 식물의 새로운 생태계가 형성됐다. 폴리는 사람과 식물을 이어주는 매개자이다. 폴리에게 식물은 단순한 소모품(commodity)이 아닌 공동체(community)이다. 그들은 식물과 공생하면서 다른 사람들과 함께 그들이 본 것을 향유하고자 한다. 폴리들은 끊임없이 떠내려가는, 지친 사람들을 건져와 회복시키고 돌보아준다. 그들은 식물이 그들에게 안식처가 되어준 것처럼 다른 사람들 또한 그러기를 바라며 끊임없이 세상을 바라보고 나아간다.
In my practice, I have a name for those who take care of plants; Pollii. Pollii comes from the word pollinator. Pollinator acts as a medium for the insects like bees or wind in the process of plant reproduction. Nowadays, plants are easily transported everywhere, forming a new ecosystem between us humans, and the plants. In that sense, Pollii acts as a bridge between people and the plants. A plant is not just a commodity but acts as a community for the Pollii. Polliis coexist with the plants and share what they’ve learnt with others. They can notice tired individuals, take care of them and make them recover. Just like how they’ve found a home in the plants, they hope others could do the same and try to face the real world constantly.
1.식물을 기르면서 세심한 관찰을 하며 변화한 것이나 새롭게 발견한 것을 사진과 글로 기록한다.
2.장지에 펜으로 밑그림을 그린다.
3.채색에 들어가기에 앞서 분무기로 종이가 흥건해질 정도로 적신다.
4.파레트에 전체적인 톤이 될 색상을 제조한다.
5.수채물감으로 채색을 한다.
6.완전히 말리고 1-3회 반복한다.
